Obituary for Walter J Batko Sr.

Sayreville
Walter J. Batko Sr., age 96, passed away peacefully at the Venetian Care Center in South Amboy, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sayreville, he was a lifelong borough resident. Before his retirement, Walter worked as a pipefitter for Hercules Inc. for many years. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW Post 4699, the Knights of Columbus Council 2061, the Sayreville Seniors and a former member of the OLV Holy Name Society. Walter was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville.
He is predeceased by his wife Viola in 2012 and his siblings Stella Kurdyla, Mary Shotz, Josephine Suchkowski, Michael, John, and Edward.
Surviving are his son Walter Jr. his wife Cindy and their children Matthew and Cassie of Sayreville, his son Gerard and his wife Stephanie of TX, his brother Ted and his wife Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main St, with a 9am mass to follow at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will take place at St. Stan’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4pm to 8pm.
