James Robert Cosentino, age 58 of South River, was called home by Our Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Born in Bronx, NY, Jim was raised in South Amboy and attended St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy, where he met his wife, Kathleen (Fennessy) Cosentino. On June 17, 1977, their graduation night from high school, they went on their first date and were married on September 17, 1983. Jim attended Glassboro College and graduated Cum Laude from Kean College with a BS in accounting. He worked as a CPA and Controller at Nina Footwear, in NYC. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the South River Boat Club and Captain of “The Angry Beaver.”
Jim was a communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church in South River.
He is predeceased by his father Thomas (Gaetano) Cosentino.
Surviving are his beloved wife Kathleen Fennessy, his cherished children Colleen Filighera and her husband Colin, Erin Busby and her husband Daniel, Meghan Congiusta and her husband Christopher, James Robert Jr., his adored grandchildren Skylar Kathleen Busby, Connor Michael Congiusta, Fallon Ava Busby, Paisley Elizabeth Congiusta, his mother Frances Rose Cosentino, his sister Joanne Veschi and her husband John, his brother Thomas Patrick and his wife Teri, his in law James and Jean Fennessy, 9 sisters in law, 7 brothers in law, 28 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews and a mini dachshund, Shorti Cosentino.
Funeral services will be Friday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave. South River with a 9am funeral mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama RC Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in South Brunswick.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Spiritual Catholic Masses be offered and/or memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
