Charlene Dolores Sharpton Stark, age 90 of Monroe, passed away Sunday September 10, 2017 at Chelsea Care Center in East Brunswick. Born in La Junta CO, she had lived in Rahway and Piscataway for many years. Charlene had a love for learning and earned her Master’s Degree. As an adult, she learned to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently and took a job teaching English to executives in Mexico for several years. She retired as technical publisher for Rutgers University Alcohol and Drug Study in New Brunswick. Charlene also had a love of gardening, in particular, roses. Her home was filled with beautiful flowers and she truly enjoyed cultivating them.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert in 1967.
Surviving are her daughter Sandra Stark of Monroe, her son Robert Stark of FL, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 1pm at Rahway Cemetery in Rahway.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Charlene’s name to Piscataway Public Library Foundation 500 Hoes Lane Piscataway, NJ 08854.
Services are entrusted to the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin, NJ.
