Obituary for James Callahan Jr.

James  Callahan Jr.
Sayreville
James Callahan Jr, age 81 of Sayreville, passed away peacefully Monday September 25, 2017 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Brooklyn, James moved to Sayreville over 50 years ago to start and raise his family. James was an avid horse racing enthusiast and loved watching his Mets and Jets play. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, friend and so much more. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his parents James and Claire Callahan as well as his brothers William & Charles Callahan. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, the former Elizabeth Salvato, his adored children Jeannine Callahan, Arlette & Joseph Granick and James Callahan as well as his beloved grandsons Joseph, Timothy, and Nicholas Granick, and his brother’s-in-law and sister’s-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home 15 Cherry Lane Parlin with a 9:30am funeral mass to follow at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville with an entombment at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, South Amboy.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N.
