Obituary for Don Garboski

Don Garboski died peacefully at home on September 24, 2017. He was born in Sayreville and lived there most of his life until moving to Myrtle Beach 4 years ago. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Stuttgart Germany. He was employed as a Purchasing Agent for Ethicon in Somerville and subsequently worked as a consultant for Janssen Pharmaceuticals in Titusville until his retirement. His talent and creativity led him to open Four Seasons Flower Shop in 1978. Don was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Victories Parish in Sayreville and currently a parishioner of St. Michael’s Parish, Murrell’s Inlet, SC. He was a member of the ’61 Club and a proud and loyal member of the Royal Caribbean Diamond Club. Don loved cruising, crabbing, a good game of 31 and his famous Weber Avenue lobster parties. His zest for life and love of a good time will be remembered by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his father, Louis Garbowski, his mother Florence O’Such Garbowski Gallas, his step father Joseph Gallas and his brother Louis Garbowski. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Leona (Gontarz), his beloved children – Lauree Zaczek and her husband Joseph of Sayreville, Mark and his wife Lisa of Newtown, PA, Scott and his wife Christine of Hazlet and Todd and his wife Tanya of Surfside Beach, SC. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren – Dylan and his wife Laura, AJ, Max, Gracie and Gavin and his sister-in-law Julie Garbowski as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
