Carol Ann Gibbia, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at The Venetian Care and Rehabilitation Center in South Amboy with her loving family at her side. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she lived in Staten Island for many years and later moved to NJ 13 years ago so she could be closer to her daughter and grandchildren after the loss of her dear husband, Richard. Carol Ann graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1957 and then attended Clara Barton VHS Nursing Program, Class of 1961. Before her retirement in 1997, Mrs. Gibbia was a Licensed Nurse Practitioner who was proudly employed as a staff nurse & private duty nurse with Kings Highway Hospital in Brooklyn as well as Eger Nursing Home in Staten Island. Carol Ann was a devout Catholic who was a communicant of St. Bernadette’s RC Church. She was also a member of the Middle Road Village Seniors, the St. Bernadette’s Seniors, an active Bingo player, and lover of ceramics, bowling, movies, puzzles, dancing and collecting for her favorite charities. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carol Ann is predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years Richard, her father Harold Hallock, and her sister Dorothea. Surviving are her loving children and their spouses Elenamarie & Michael Thomas of Parlin and Jessika & Brian McGunnigle of Long Island; her mother Dorothy Hallock of FL; sister Frances Hull & husband Herb of FL, and brother Fred Hallock of Brooklyn; and 7 cherished grandchildren Alexandria, Lucas, Courtney, Richard, Dylan, Michael, & Meghan; and her adoring great-granddaughter Sophia.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, 8:45am from the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with a 9:30am mass at St. Bernadette’s RC Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.
