Sonia Kaminkov Artishenko, age 84 of South River, passed away peacefully at Genesis Care Center in Westfield on Friday, April 6, 2018. Born in Belarus, she had lived in South River for over 65 years. Sonia was best known for her famous stuffed pork chops! She was a caterer and chef for many years and catered many weddings, celebrations and events. Sonia was a member of St. Euphrosynia Orthodox Church in South River.
She is predeceased by her husband George, her daughter Nadya Cupryk, her grandson Leon Biernacki, her sisters Olga Bordak, Dunia Marchenko and her brother John Kaminkov.
Surviving are her daughters Vera Biernacki and her husband Edward, Larysa Artishenko, her son in law Robert Cupryk, her granddaughter Heather Ann Ligas, her sister in law Zofia Artishenko, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Funeral Home 218 Whitehead Ave. South River with a 10am funeral service at St. Euphrosynia Orthodox Church in South River. Burial will follow at St. Euphrosynia Cemetery in South River.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 3pm to 7pm.
Panahida services will take place Tuesday at 6pm.
