John S. Godowski, age 86, of Sayreville passed away peacefully on Friday May 18, 2018 at Saint Peters University Hospital, New Brunswick with his loving family at his side. Born in Bayonne, N.J. to the late John & Mary Godowski he has resided in Sayreville for the past 60 years. John was a graduate of Union College where he received his Associates in Business.

Before his retirement 22 years ago he was employed as a systems analyst with Electronic Data Systems in Bridgewater where he worked for 10 years and prior to that he worked for American Can Company for 20 years. John was an accomplished musician where he was the founder of The Jesters Band and was instrumental in producing Saint Stanislaus Christmas Album. A very devoted and active member of Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church in Sayreville he served on many of the church committees including being past president and member of the Holy Name Society, Eucharist Minister, Lector, Church Finance Council and Trustee, Carnival Committee, Boy Scouts Troop 68 and was the Saint Stanislaus Kostka School PTA Father of the Year. John was also a member of Sayreville K of C 2061 and there 4th Degree Assembly.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 60 years Lorraine Chmiel Godowski, his children and their spouses Sharon & Joseph Cavone of Allentown, Jack & Christine Godowski and James Godowski and his companion Jill Ballo of Sayreville, his grandchildren Jacquelyn Kohut, Jennifer Zadlo, Laura Rush, Joy Godowski, Steven Godowski, Christopher Godowski and Courtney Horwith, his great grandchildren Billy, Joseph, Angela, Anthony, Abby and Landon, his brothers and their wives Robert & Charlotte Godowski, Eugene & Eileen Godowski and Richard Godowski and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm with members of the Holy Name Society, K of C 2061 and 4th Degree Assembly holding services during the visitation.

Funeral services will be held Monday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville followed by a 9am mass at Saint Stanislaus Kostka R. C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Sayreville. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in John’s name be made to Saint Stanislaus Kostka School Endowment Fund 225 Mac Arthur Avenue, Sayreville, N.J.
