Very Rev. Joseph A. Kreshik, age 89 formally of South River, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Manor By The Sea in Ocean Grove. Born in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania he resided in Newark, Spring Valley and South River before moving to Belmar and Ocean Grove. Fr. Kreshik was ordained as a Russian Orthodox Priest serving at Saint Michaels in Newark, Saint John The Baptist in Spring Valley, N.Y. and Sts Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church in South River. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.

He is predeceased by his loving wife Luba Pacala Kreshik, his children Joseph and Valery, his parents Andrew & Nellie Kreshik, and his brothers Wassil & Very Rev. Paul Kreshik. Surviving are his sister in law Anne Kreshik, his nephew Andrew Kreshik, his niece Kyra Hazou and his cousin and caregiver Joseph Poremski and his wife Dee.

Fr. Kreshik will lay in state on Thursday May 31, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Saints Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Church 76 Whitehead Avenue South River, with a funeral service for a priest to take place at 6pm. A Devine Liturgy will be held on Friday June 1, 2018, 9am at the church followed by burial at Saints Peter & Paul RO Cemetery, South River under the direction of the Maliszewski Funeral Home South River.
