Eugene W. Fedor, age 91 of Sayreville, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 15, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, surrounded by his loving family. Gene was a kind and humble man who always greeted people with a warm smile. He believed that if you could be anything in this world, be kind. Gene was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School Class of 1944, he attended the University of Idaho, he received his BA from Seton Hall University and his MA from Wagner College. He dedicated his working life to education and truly enjoyed teaching. Gene helped start one of the first schools in North Africa in Benghazi and Libya in the early 1960s. In the United States he was a dedicated teacher in the Old Bridge School district for 34 years, retiring in 1991. He had a lifelong love of travel and happily toured the United States and Europe. He proudly served his country and was a US Air Force veteran of WWII. Gene was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville where he was a Eucharist Minister and a lector.
He is predeceased by his parents Andrew and Mae Pietrosky Fedor.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, the former Jean Marie Neff, his beloved children Lynn Krieger and her husband Christopher, Elaine Balzamo, Gene and his wife Taran, Mary Summerer and her husband Mike, James, his cherished grandchildren Matthew and his wife Jessica, Nicholas, Michael, Owen, Christopher, Leigh Anne, Tiana, Keelin, Tierney, his great-granddaughter Jade, his sister Carol Dinan and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. There was nothing Gene loved more than spending time with his family. He never missed an event for his grandchildren and truly cherished their time together.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 9am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main St. Sayreville, with a 9:30am mass to follow at Our Lady of Victories RC Church in Sayreville. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery in Parlin.
Calling hours at the funeral home will take place on Monday from 3pm to 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be sent to the Our Lady of Victories St. Vincent DePaul Society 42 Main St. Sayreville 08872. They also request that everyone do a good deed and offer a warm smile in Eugene’s memory.
