James R. Smith age 80 of Sayreville passed away Friday December 12, 2014 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Jersey City he has resided in Sayreville for the past 49 years. James was employed for the past 10 years by Amboy Bank in Old Bridge as a clerk in the mail room, prior to that as a driver for Middlesex Gutter Supply for 10 years, and maintenance mechanic at South Amboy Hospital for 10 years and Elastic Stop Nut for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a 27 year member of Sayreville Emergency Squad and a long time member of Sayreville First Presbyterian Church where he served as a church
Elder and Deacon. James was a member of Philo Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in South River.

He is predeceased by his parents Rowe & Elizabeth Smith and his brother Robert Smith. Surviving are his wife of 55 years Manona Moran Smith, his daughters and their spouses Donna & Thomas Brugnoli of Kernersville, NC, Linda Miles of Wall and Patricia & Robert Sutton of Monmouth Junction, his grandchildren Caitlynn, Christopher, Eddie, Sarah, Matt, Jackie and David, his great grandchildren Cody and Kaleb and his sister Trudy Cirlincione of Piscataway.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville followed by a 10am service at Sayreville First Presbyterian Church with private cremation to follow.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday from 4pm to 8pm. The following groups will hold services Tuesday at the funeral home: Sayreville Emergency Squad 6:30pm, Elders and Deacons of First Presbyterian Church 7pm, Philo Lodge Tuesday 7:30pm at the funeral home. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations in James name be made to Sayreville Emergency Squad P.O. Box 9 Sayreville, N.J. 08872 or to The Sayreville First Presbyterian Church, 172 Main Street, Sayreville, NJ 08872.
