Obituary for Eugene J "Gene" Zajac
Toms River
Eugene Zajac, age 73 passed away Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Brunswick, he had lived most of his life in Sayreville before moving to Toms River 10 years ago. Before his retirement, Gene worked as a teacher at Linwood Middle School in North Brunswick, and was a painter for over 30 years. He loved family holiday dinners and traveling with his wife, children and grandchildren. Gene was an avid NY Giants fan and was a season ticket holder for over 55 years. He also loved the NY Yankees. Gene was a championship horseshoe player with his late brother Richie.
He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Julia Zajack, his brother Richard Zajack and his first wife Carol Zajac.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Mary Lou, his children and their spouses Jeff and Teri Zajac, Brian Zajac, Greg and Michele Zajac, Carrie Ann and Devin D’Andrea, Matt and Elana Winston, his grandchildren Nicholas, Zac, Catherine, Izabella, and Nate, his sister Joan Dobrzynski and her husband Richie, his uncle Charles Grabowski and his sister in law Kim Ann Szulecki.
Funeral services will be Monday 11am at the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville with a burial to follow at St. Stan’s Cemetery in Sayreville.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm.
