John A. “Jas” Sekman of Montgomery formally of Sayreville passed away peacefully on April 6, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. John was predeceased by his parents John and Anna Sekman, sister, Mary Smierzynski and brother Andrew Sekman. He is survived by his sisters Rose Nahai and Mildred Georgianna , his brother Bernard and many nieces and nephew.

John attended Rider College and Syracuse University before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He served as an air traffic controller in Japan and Puerto Rico. He then moved on to the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington D.C. where he became a department director until his retirement 26 years ago.

Jas lived life to the fullest surrounded by loving family and friends. He will be sorely missed. Funeral services were private under the direction of the Maliszewski Memorial Home 121 Main Street Sayreville. Contributions in John’s memory may be sent to Michael Robert Damato Memorial Fund, c/o Princeton Area Community Foundation Inc 15 Princess Road, Lawrenceville, N.J. 08648.
