Maria  Spasenyj (Somborski)
Maria Spasenyj, age 95 of South River passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28th 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Romania Maria and her husband had immigrated to the United States with their 4 young daughters and made a life for their family settling in South River in 1955. Before her retirement she was employed as a seamstress for Dora’s Dress Factory in South River for 10 years and then Algrow Knitting Mills in Milltown for 15 years. Maria was an active member and volunteer of Sts Peter & Paul RO Church in South River for 50 years.

She is predeceased by her parents Mark and Anna Somborski, her husband Teodor, her grandson Anthony Pagano and her son-in-law James Myzhevych. Surviving are daughters Vera Myzhevych of South River, Helena Christie, who lived with and cared for her mother in South River, Nadia Spaseny of Rockaway, Lucy Bellissimo and her husband Joseph of Latrobe, PA, 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Monday from the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave., South River with a 10:00am service at Sts. Peter & Paul RO Church in South River. Burial will follow at Sts Peter & Paul RO Cemetery in South River.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4-8pm with a Panahida service at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Maria’s name to Sts Peter & Paul RO Church, 76 Whitehead Ave, South River, NJ 08882 or to the VNA Hospice of Central Jersey Foundation, 176 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, NJ 07701.
